1. Sales SupportOne of the first things I always recommend people consider when looking for legitimate home based businesses, is to evaluate if the opportunity in question has a sales support where any questions can be asked. Having this provides you with the opportunity to asses the business model and personally evaluate proof of its legitimacy as opposed to being an automated site or program that just collects money in exchange for some potentially ‘out of date information’.The best home based businesses will not only offer sales support, but also make contact when you are ready to further your purchase and determine an action plan which is right for you.2. Forum NetworkThere’s nothing worse than executing a new task or system to be left with a bundle of questions and nobody to speak with. All legitimate home based businesses should offer a forum network for you to collaborate and exchange ideas with others who are doing the same things.Having a forum network will enable you to quickly overcome issues or difficulties you may face along the way by asking others if they have experienced any of the same. A forum is also the best place to measure your results against other similar people.3. History of Members/UsersTestimonials have and will always be a great marketing tool for anyone but having the ability to speak with someone about their successes in their home based business gives you the ability to determine what level of expertise is needed, how they have found their journey so far, any challenges they may have had and what they can do to assist you in yours.4. Leaving The Emotions On The SidelineBeing open minded about things is a great start when searching for legitimate home based businesses but learning to leave your emotions on the sideline is another. Just as an avid real estate investor will advise when purchasing investment properties, ‘don’t let your emotions get in the way’. The same goes with any opportunity you may be seeking. Keeping a level head and not allowing yourself to be whisked away by what the opportunity is offering, is key to finding the right road. Do your due diligence and understand the necessary investment of money and time that is required to reach your desired goals.5. Offering The World For Little CostMany times if something sounds too good to be true then chances are your gut feeling may very well be serving you correctly.Unfortunately many work from home businesses guarantee what seems to be the world for very little. The truth to the matter is that, like any successful person will tell you, building a profitable business takes time and money. Promising millions for very little of your time and or money generally does not reflect legitimate home based businesses correctly. There is definitely a great deal of money to be made in the home based business industry, but there are also skills that need to be learned. The great thing is, once learned you are able to leverage these skills for grew returns on both your time and money.6. TransparencyWhen ever we go into a news-agency we all love to flick through the magazine before we read it right? Why do we do this? It’s because we’re looking for more information and would like to know a little more about what we are buying first. This is our human nature for wanting to know what we are investing our money into first. The same goes with any work from home businesses. The best home based businesses should be offering you a chance to check out the system and possibly take it for a test drive so that you may assess it’s suitability for yourself. So during your search for legitimate home based businesses be sure to keep each of these keys in mind to ensure that you end up partnering with the right opportunity for your needs and circumstances.
Plan To Succeed With Information Product Creation: Why You Need To Split Your Process Up
One of the keys to succeeding in information product creation is to break the process up into discrete steps. This frequently isn’t an instinctive reaction for the typical information marketer. Especially on the internet where small sized learning products are the norm.
However, it is extremely important to your ultimate success. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if you don’t do this you probably won’t succeed… even when you are starting out let alone as you move forward.
Your product creation system should do this for you if only to help you to understand the overall task.
But why?
In this article, I’m going to ignore chunking and focus on the practical aspects. That’s not to say that chunking isn’t important. It is. It’s important to understanding and to learning the process. But while you can use the same chunks as you move forward, long term your focus needs to be on the operation of the system not the understanding of it. Unless of course you are constantly training new people!
So why is chunking important to long term use of the product creation process? (Yes, I know systems design uses a different term for this process but I’m not teaching you systems design. So I’m going to use the word learning content designers use.)
The first reason that having individual discrete tasks is important is one of schedule estimation. Frequently it is very difficult to estimate how long the total task of creating a product will take. After all, the size and type of the products matters as does the number of products in your product funnel. And those are just the most obvious elements. However, estimating a discrete task is often much easier. The total can then be estimated as the total of the discrete tasks.
Secondly, scheduling a large task can be problematic. However, by segmenting the task into a number of discrete tasks, you gain a much greater flexibility in scheduling. Not only that but as your business begins to add people you are able to schedule multiple people to the product creation.
Finally, segmenting a large task into smaller discrete tasks allows you to have much better control over the product creation. This affects two different areas — status and quality.
By segmenting your process into discrete tasks you are able to schedule and record the progress at much more detailed level. As a result you are more in control of the status of the product creation. You know what everyone is doing. When they should complete it. And how much it should cost. You also know exactly what has been done.
You also improve your overall quality. Instead of waiting until everything is done you can check quality as you go. This allows you to immediate react to low quality products without absorbing their costs. This means that you have less rework and your rework costs less. And if the product is not going to meet its quality requirement you will know about it in time to stop the development, change the requirement or fix the product.
Is Starting a Home Based Business Right For You?
If you think it would be wonderful to wake up every morning without an alarm, and you can imagine yourself being happy sitting down to work in your casual, comfy clothes, then a home based business may be right for you. A home business would also get rid of commuting, and office politics, but you have to think about the pluses and minuses before you take the plunge. Most people who start a home based business start out part-time, but when businesses are laying off workers, there are also people who find themselves needing to replace their income. You are at home, and others may think it is no big deal for you to pick up the kids, or go to the store, make dinner, do laundry, clean the house, but you have to learn to say “No” and explain that the time you need for your work is necessary for you to build your business. You can also get distracted online with email, forums, reviewing products, studying the amazing amount of information available online on how to build your business, which uses up valuable time you need to make your business happen. The biggest expense can be advertising, with Pay Per Click ads being the primary expense for many online marketers. These things add up, so you need to consider your financial resources before you start, as it could be months before you see any revenue from your efforts.OrganizationWhen you first start working online, you will find yourself registering at a variety of sites. If you decide to market digital products you will probably join ClickBank.com or Commission Junction. You will likely be joining forums to meet others working at home to learn and share ideas, and social sites like Twitter, MySpace or Facebook. You may be setting yourself up to be an affiliate of one or more programs, setting up a blog, and in all of these situations you will be creating sign in information or being assigned an affiliate identification number or personalized link to the merchant’s website. The best thing to do from the start is to make sure you keep everything organized. Set up folders in your email account, and keep every confirmation email you receive with all your account information. That way you can easily find whatever you need, without having to go through the frustration of searching through pages of emails.
